Welcome to Cherrybeau Kennels website. My name is Michele Browne and together with my fiancée Eddie Brophy, we own Cherrybeau Kennels. We live in Enniscorthy in the sunny south east corner of Ireland, both of us have always been dog lovers and we grew up surrounded by a myriad of different dogs. We decided that we wanted to get a dog to own and enjoy together. We are often asked Why Miniature Pinschers? (Min pins). The honest answer is “compromise”; they were the first breed we researched that both of us liked. They ticked all the right boxes – small, intelligent, active, eager to please, short-haired and most importantly healthy as a breed.
We got our first min pin Crimson Star for Cherrybeau “Milly” in November, 2009. We bought her with every intention of keeping her as a pet. We were immediately besotted, as Milly travelled home with us curled up under my niece’s jumper for comfort. Initially we had no intention of getting another dog, and no intention of ever showing and breeding dogs, however that all changed, when we were encouraged by others to show her.
We started researching showing on the internet and I came across the website of Buzleo Pugs in Wexford, owned by Caryn Coogan. Caryn and I had worked together many years previously, so I re-initiated contact with her. Caryn was very helpful and encouraging, I told her that we were thinking of starting to show and that we were looking for another min pin.
This contact began a series of events that took place over 24 hours which ultimately led to the creation of Cherrybeau Kennels. Caryn had imported a top quality pug from the Famous Tangetoppen show kennels in Norway and she had developed a very close relationship with Elizabeth Olsen and Bjorn Erling Loken the owners of the kennel. Tangetoppen although famous for pugs, were also breeders of Miniature Pinschers and have bred many champion min pins. Elizabeth and Bjorn Erling had just decided that they wanted a new home for their two year old Champion, Tangetoppen’s Ferrero Rocher, aka “Turbo”. Caryn encouraged us to contact Tangetoppen after she had already made a phone call to them, to introduce us. In a very short period Elizabeth and Bjorn Erling agreed to let Turbo come live with us in Ireland. I really believe in faith, I have heard so many stories of people who have searched for months and even years for the right dog for them, and here we were in a period of no more than 24 hours, we had found our dog and a couple of weeks later he was with us.
Turbo became our foundation dog and what a wonderful dog he is, he has made history here in Ireland, when in August 2011 he became the first miniature pinscher to win the FCI Group 2 in Ireland. He is a multiple green star and best of breed winner. He is a joy in every sense of the word to be around. A couple of months later, Elizabeth and Bjorn Erling agreed to let Turbo’s puppy hood sweetheart come and live with us and Cherrybeau was given the privilege of welcoming Tangetoppen’s Miriel of Noldor aka “Chilli” to Ireland. Chilli has shown with success in Ireland and is the foundation bitch of our kennel.
We have made some great friends through our mutual love of dogs. We enjoy showing our dogs and love talking to people about them. We love the Miniature Pinscher as a breed and as a companion. We are so happy we made the miniature pinscher our breed of choice.
We hope you enjoy our website and thank you for visiting. We would be delighted if you left a PAWPRINT in our guestbook and please feel free to contact us.
We would like to thank the following for all their help and assistance in putting together this website.
